About Mark Gandy

Lou Gehrig said he was the luckiest man on the face of the earth during his farewell speech in front of Yankees fans. Well, I guess that makes me the second luckiest man on the face of the earth. That’s because I’ve enjoyed serving many business owners in a business-to-business CFO or controllership capacity since 2001.

My current CFO portfolio spans many industries: retail, professional services, software development, fast-growing e-commerce, manufacturing, publishing, restaurants, agri-businesses, and several others.

Over the years, I’ve raised equity capital for my clients, bought and sold businesses, re-engineered and streamlined poorly-managed accounting and finance departments, closed on many loan requests, and managed numerous IT projects. For larger businesses upwards to $200 million in revenues, I’ve successfully built complex, driver-based financial models using the top software applications available for the mid-market.

Before becoming a CFO free agent to scores of outstanding businesses in mid-Missouri and across the country, I obtained my CPA certification while working for KPMG Peat Marwick. Afterwards, I worked for the greatest family-owned business in the Show-Me state where I worked in numerous senior financial management capacities. I have also served as a CFO for several smaller family-owned businesses.

Every business needs a purpose and a mission. Mine is my wife and three kids. Debbie, my best friend, has been my wife for 25-plus years. Brock just graduated from Harding University and will be following in my footsteps as he embarks on a career in public accounting with a top-ten firm. Emily is a freshman at Harding University, and my little ‘bubba’, Drew, still has two years of high school remaining at Heritage Academy.

Life is good. How about yours? As a new friend would ask, “Are you a slave to your business, or is your business a slave to you?”
